6' below no try 800

Today the Gypsy and I took a walk 800 ft below the surface of the earth. Carlsbad Cavern National Park. The trip down reminded me of the trip down into Bryce National Park. This time however we were walking into darkness. The sights below were amaaaaaaazing. To think that these formations are created by minerals carried in a drop of water. Drop by drop by drop. Most of the formations are not growing any more, only about 5% are still actively in the building process. Don't know how far we walked today, but it was far. The part of the cavern we toured was only a small part, There are miles of the cavern that is not open to the public. There was also special guided tours you could take, but that required crawling and squezing through narrow openings and long small tunnels. If you know me, just going into the cavern was a huge step forward. The crawling and squezing, well, that just ain't going to happen.

See Ya
