Civil War, it's another civil war

Well, It's happening. Our great nation is once again being thrown into a civil war.  The last civil war was in the late 1800's, 1861 - 1865. That civil war pitted brother against brother, family against family and neighbor against neighbor. We as a nation literally killed our own kin and neighbors. We were torn apart piece by piece to a point that to this day we still feel the repercussions of those years. Was it a battle worth fighting? in most instances, yes. The main reason for the Civil war of the 1800's was slavery, there is no doubt about the evils of slavery and it had to be abolished and I guess when you look at it, there was no way around that war. No one was going to give in. The southern economy was tied directly to slave labor. So from the south's point of view you can see their resistance to the abolishment of slavery. Remember to keep in mind that not everyone owned slaves, but not everyone resisted it either. I guess the second biggest reason for the civil war from the Souths point of view was the North who was an industrial sector was telling the south who was agricultural, just how to run their business. So there ya go, a Civil War. Today, we are in another Civil War and no one wants to recognizes it,  but look closely. Today's Civil War is being fought over what? I don't know. Our nation is in such turmoil, and over what? I can't recall when I have heard such language and accusations and bitterness. Everyone has lost respect not only for themselves but for each other and to our elected  officials. We have families torn apart over this last election, long time friends that will not speak to each other, Vulgarities not only in print but on the news, and in what use to be family entertainment. Where does this end? What is the end game? Where do you think this ends? Do you think it would be any different if the other party had won the election? No. Do you think it will be any different if the current president is removed by either resignation or impeachment? No. We as a nation have allowed ourselves to be pushed into a corner where all sides are ready to fight, and who pushed us into these corners? Do you think this upcoming fight is just going to be words? I hope so, But, there is going to be a fight, and there will be no winners. I don't know where this all ends up, My biggest fear is that this will tear this country totally apart once again. A once great nation just may never be great again, and that is sad. As I have traveled across this nation lately I have gone through the southern states, the mid west and the plains states. The populations of these areas are pretty much spread out. The Bible Belt, and the Bread Basket of our nation is alive and well. Church on Sunday and back to work on Monday. We sometimes forget about these people but with out them, well, you can't be without them. I guess what I'm trying to say here is that we hear a lot from the big cities and highly populated areas cause they do make a lot of noise but lets try and listen to the quiet guy also, he deserves to be heard also, and as of yet, has not raised his voice, except in this last election, and that was through his vote. So as I climb down from my soap box lets all try to think before we speak. There is an old adage we should all consider. "It is better to remain quiet and thought a fool then to open your mouth and remove all doubt." There are no pictures today cause they would be faded by the tears. Hopefully God will still have mercy on this great nation and we will come out on the other side whole again.
Just the Captain today, rarely do I climb up on that soap box, but you knew it was coming, sooner or later. Don't make me do this again.
