Crossing Texas

Crossing Texas is no small feat. EL Paso was a challenge. Who closes a major freeway like I 10, El Paso Texas does. So, picture this. Freeway, standstill traffic, the kind you see on the evening news in LA for at least an hour and we ain't even to the detour yet. A detour thru El Paso with a large motorhome, car in tow rattled my core, and my core is pretty deep. Oh, it ain't over yet. So we finally make it back to the I 10 and head for fort Stockton Tx. Once in Fort Stockton we find all RV sites are full except for, You got it, WALLMART. Don't get me wrong, I ain't complaining about Wallmart, they're easy in and out, the pads are level, it's well lit and there's a grocery store really close and, security comes by regularly all night. Oh, did I forget to mention, It's FREE. After writing this I'm begining to think this just may be one of my favorite places to stop.
Ok, up early and off to San Antonio Tx. El Paso was nothing. Remember, I'm in a 36 foot motor home with a car in tow. Our RV park is located in a congested town type neighborhood, to get to this neighborhood site we travel thru a spaghetti style freeway system that is old, and then, off the freeway on into the business district for the area and then finally we turn into a beautiful RV park, and I really do mean beautiful, long back in sites with trees, plants, real grass (not the Colorado type, Texas type) wide sites, and mood lighting in every site, Fireflies. I haven't seen fireflies for many years, and least I forget, entertainment, Bruce chasing these fireflies. Perfect. Ok, so we plug in and hook up to water, clean up and head for the Alamo and the River Walk. The Alamo is kinda like Disneyland in the sense that the Alamo was once this fort and church out in the middle of nowhere and the city has squeezed in so tight that it chokes a beautiful site. The Alamo was great, such a historical site, great time. So then it's off to the Riverwalk. The River walk was truly a Disneyland like experience as you can see from the photos. So the day is closing down, we're back at the motorhome for a quite evening. Up this morning and ready to write to the Blog. Blog entry written and ready to post pictures. Now I'm trying to keep calm but once again I feel my core being shaken. The camera only recorded an occasional photo, WHAT THE HECK is this all about. I'm hoping the Gypsy's camera-phone has a few pictures I can use till I figure this out. To tell ya the truth her phone-camera takes better pictures anyway. I may be headed, and I really hate this next statement, to a smart phone.
Well, it's 2;30 pm and we're out of San Antonio and have passed Huston and we're settled in for the evening. Tomorrow it's Tabasco time. Enjoy the pictures.
