Durango - Silverton narrow gauge railroad

The Train Ride. Took a short ride to Durango Co. this morning and got on an late 1800 to early 1900 Steam Locomotive train with same period cars. I can't imagine riding this thing across country. Shake, Rattle, and Roll. The Scenery was amazing. Several times we were on the edge of a cliff that was at least 600 ft. if not more to a raging river with class 5 rapids. The train snaked its way thru narrow passes and across old bridges, the whole time belching smoke from a coal fired steam engine. Trying to walk thru the cars was like being on a small boat in a storm.

The city of Durango is a town out of the past, old stores and Hotels. This place however is truly a tourist town with everything expensive. However what a place to visit. Posted are a few of the photos. Tomorrow the starship heads for Moab. Last time we were there we didn't get a chance to hike to the big arch, so we're setting aside a day to hike there and then it off to Dinasore (ok so I don't know how to spell it) National Park.

See Ya
