Lessons for the week

A lot to be learned this week about life.  Winners and losers. No one wants to be a loser but how do you define loser? Many years ago in another life I was a coach for youth soccer. Coached for 6 years and had a illustrious career. One season we were playing our last game and it was for 1st place. The kids on the team were all winners and expected to take home another 1st place trophy. They lost. Heart broken? No. Disappointed? No. They didn't even want that second place trophy, you see, second place to them was 1st losers. These kids learned early about being a winner. Would love to know how each one of them turned out in life, winners is where my money would be.
So, we had an amazzing SuperBowl LI Sunday, one that will be remember for a long time in many ways. There are lessons to be learned here though. Never give up, and Never let up. Two great teams playing for all the marbles. Like everyone else at halftime, we thought the game was in the bag for Atlanta. However, winners never give up. A fly on the wall in two different locker rooms would have witnessed two totally different scenes. One, loud, slapping each other on the back and thinking about the ever sought after Super Bowl Ring. But, Sometimes confidence leads to complacency and complacency leads to letting up just a little bit.  The other locker room, Quiet, "what's going on?". "we're down by how much?".  and then a voice rings out. we're not dead yet, 911 may have been called but we're not dead yet. Attitudes and focus. So many examples of each. Julio Jones, two feet down, Julian Edleman and the amazing catch, referees who somehow see it all in real time where we need slow motion freeze frame. Something for all of us to think about. "Never Give Up, and Never Let Up".
