Ok, What is he talking about now? Martyrs !!!!! Valentines Day. Valentine was a term used in Roman times to describe or define early Christian Martyrs. February 14th was originally celebrated to honor Valentines but morphed into a day to celebrate love. Bet you are impressed or shocked that I would know this kind of stuff. And you thought I was just another pretty face.
So, it's early morning and I'm thinking pretty straight, haven't read my emails or checked out the news which seems to be increasingly crazy. The gypsy is still in bed and I have a little free time to write. So as I woke up I begin to think of what was on my schedule for the day or in the next few days. It's Feb. 11th and the 14th is just around the corner. Valentines day, boy you better get busy on that one. As you know Valentines day started out as a day to honor Christian Martyrs, Kinda don't won't to be one, so I need a plan. I'm hoping as I sit here writing I will get some kind of inspiration cause as of now I got nothing. The Gypsy and I met in another life somewhere back in the late 60's early 70's, fell in love, got married, had children, and retired to life as we know it now. In just a few words, from meeting to retiring lies a life time. A life time of love, commitment, happiness, joy, pain, and sorrow. A life time of life. I can't imagine a life without all those elements and without the Gypsy to guide me through it. Sometime we do get lucky, don't we. Well, I'm still writing and I still got nothing for the 14th. Oh, wait just a minute, I think I remember one of our friends is having a Valentines dinner for the group, that will help, but, I better find somthing else, somthing for just the Gypsy and the Captain. I could take her shooting (she loves doing that) however, I'm trying not to be a martry, providing her with a gun, ammo, and oportunity sounds like a recipe for martrydom. So, somthing else. I still got nothing. Maybe I could quote some Valentines Day Poems. Like "Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, I've never met anyone as beautiful as you." or "Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, You are my Sunshine, and I love you." ok, how about this. "How do I love thee? Let me count the ways, I love thee to the depth and breadth and height my soul can achieve". and then, " The first time you touched me, I knew I was born to be yours". You know, If the Gypsy reads this I may be good. Happy Valentines Day to All. Here are some pictures of the one who guides me.
