Once in a while I'll get someone who says "why don't you write about something interesting, like food or sports". "Hey, why don't you write about *******". I was telling someone just the other day "I can't just write, I have to be inspired by something". I'm not sure what something is, cause it can be anything, almost anything. BUT, I'm going to try and write uninspired and see what comes out.
I have this friend who will read or listen to anything if it pertains to food or if it has a ball attached to it. If food came in balls that would be a no brainier. Spaghetti and meat balls, wedding soup has little sausage balls, Brussel sprouts, that's pretty close to a ball, oh yeah there's that little dough ball covered in powdered sugar, ok, that's all I can think of, so obviously I'm not going to write about food. So if I want Bruce to read one of my entries it's going to have to be on sports.
You know, as a kid I didn't get to play much sports, Reason? I just wasn't good enough. As I have gotten older I'm much more competitive. You see, all those jocks back in high school are all worn out, tennis elbows, broken fingers that didn't heal, busted up knees from football, backs that aren't straight and strong anymore, weak ankles, and then there's the beer bellies from all the parties and celebrations. The only thing they got left to compete with is memories of the days of yesteryear. So today everything I got still works pretty well, well, not everything but most everything. Lets take Pickle ball for instance, fastest growing sport in the US. Last year I started playing for the first time, took lessons, public and private. There's a lot to learn about pickle ball, there's the Dink, the Drop, the Volley, the Lob, and when to use these shots and of course the rules pertaining to the kitchen. Played once or twice a week, entered a tournament and took first place {with a little help from a great partner}. The old jocks just don't have it anymore. I moved like a gazelle, a 240 lb rip snorting gazelle. Just like the athletes of yesterday, at the end of the day it's parties and celebrations and then home to the miracles of hot rubs and ice. This athletic life style is killing me. It ain't just pickle ball, there's golf, and lawn bowling [don't snicker about the lawn bowling, that's a tough demanding sport that requires concentration, especially when you have your competition whites on}. I'm telling you, being a multi sport athlete of today is tough and demanding. Bruce, there ya go, just for you Sens a.
