Chicken

Ok, as you know, If I have a little time to ponder, know telling what will come out. At present I am without adult supervision. The Gypsy has taken a short leave of absence and gone to visit the grandkids in Utah, and Jeremy and Grace too. So this morning I'm sitting in the guard shack where I work and its 6 am, not much going on so, I'm just sitting there, and then the Pondering begins. Because the Gypsy is gone, this is a good time to have some friends over for a favorite dish that the Gypsy wants nothing to do with. Chicken Livers. So as the evening gathered steam it was chicken livers, bacon, and brownies. The livers were excellent, bacon is bacon of course, and the brownies were also excellent. Pondering last nights meal I began to think about the chicken who gave us such a great meal. Now just think about it, What level does the Chicken play in our society? Lets start with food. Fried chicken and all the different ways to cook the chicken, then there's chicken wings, and all the other parts of the chicken, including chicken nuggets (what ever that is). Not to long ago the gypsy and I were in a Chinese restaurant (now the Chinese take chicken parts to a whole new level) and Chicken feet were served.  How about eggs, boiled, poached, scrambled. Just to make a cake, 2 eggs please. Then of course, throwing eggs, and Easter eggs. Then there's the soups, chicken and rice, chicken noodle, chicken and stars, chicken gumbo, and as you can see it goes on and on and on. Ever look at the ingredients for pet food? Chicken. Ok, lets get away from the food thought for a moment. How about my favorite, the feather pillow. How about the color of paint, eggs shell white. Then there's the jokes, we all know chicken jokes, like "why did the chicken cross the street? to prove it could be done." Insults, "Are you chicken", or "that's chicken s--t", and of course we've all played chicken with some one when we were young, and older too. How about making fun of some one "cluk-cluk-cluk". Chickens have been around a long time, I kinda like the chicken for all he provides for me, according to Chic-fil-a the cows seem to like the chickens also. I was watching a documentary on one of the smart peoples Chanel's and they seem to think the chicken can be traced back to the dinosaur era. So, just how important is the chicken? Many of us will wake up in the morning and the chicken will be one of the first things there, EGGS, scrambled, or fried. How about when you're not feeling well, CHICKEN SOUP. Well enough of this, as you can see, the chicken when pondered upon, is, well, quiet important to our everyday lives. So, lets here it for the chicken.
The Captain.
