Well we're in Sonoma Ca. world famous Wine Country. I'm sure you are wondering about the title of this issue "dumpster diving with the judge". The Gypsy aka Ms. Karen, my oldest sister, and myself went touring the wineries of Sonoma. Being Sunday we stopped in at St. Francis winery, a beautiful place. As we began the tasting we were introduced to Mr. John Weitzel as our hospitality representative. As time went on we discovered he is a very accomplished wine Judge. John showed us how to taste and judge wines. Well, taste anyway. Judging comes from years of experience and tasting. Come to find out John is from San Diego, in fact he graduated from Monte Vista High school which is where the Gypsy graduated from. Well, back to the story of dumpster diving. When we were through tasting the wines I ask John if I could have some of the empty bottles. You see, I make lamps out of the empty bottles. Come to find out they keep the bottles for a bottle count at the end of the day, so I would not be able to get any. However after a little more conversation John took me outside to the dumpster where the bottles from the previous day were discarded. Thus the Dumpster Diving begins. I'm sure it must have been a rare site to see the judge and the sipper heads down and arms deep into the dumpster. So John if you are reading this blog, Thanks for a great day and for giving us a glimps into the world of Wine tasting and Judging, we had a great time and was the stop of the trip, thanks again.
We also visited The "Kunde" winery which was a great treat. To bad I wasn't born on that side of the Kunde familyThe wineries of Sonoma are beautiful, enjoy the picturies.
